Review: The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs

It’s Monday, meh. I thought what better way to get excited for Monday and a new week than to relive my remarkable stay at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs! Are you ready for picturesque mountain views and scenery, endless amenities and impeccable service? Come on, friends!

But where do I start? This is one of the best places we’ve ever visited! The location has stunning beauty and the sunsets are unbelievable! The Broadmoor has all the amenities you can imagine as well as multiple fine dining restaurants. The management and staff are top notch. I should add, if the hubs and I ever won the lottery, we’d have a summer home in Colorado!Prior to arriving at The Broadmoor, we had been in Cabo (review post coming soon) for 5 days! Talk about a change in scenery and climate, but no complaints here! Summers in Colorado are absolutely gorgeous. Y’all, I’m talking about 50 degree mornings and mid 70s throughout the day. Packing for this trip was difficult for me. I was solely focused on the beach and relaxing in Cabo. Needless to say I should have packed jeans, a light jacket and tennis shoes! So you guessed it, a special shopping trip in Colorado Springs was needed.

We arrived in Colorado Springs late Wednesday night. We were definitely tired from long flights and lay-overs but so excited to be at The Broadmoor. Once we arrived, the staff was so courteous and over the top helpful. The Broadmoor is huge, definitely overwhelming late at night when you are not familiar with it. Once we walked into our room and looked around I knew this place was something special! Our room included a fireplace with seating area, private balcony and a five fixture bathtub – so heavenly! Most mornings were spent with coffee delivery, room service (amazing) and catching up on emails via the balcony. Taking in the fresh, crisp air and views over coffee is definitely something I miss! On Friday, the hubs played golf while I had a spa day (all details below)! We usually ate lite lunches so we could indulge in dinner! Before dinner we usually grabbed a cocktail to hang out and unwind. Dinners here were quite the experience! We definitely ate too much, may have drank too much and were basically treated like kings and queens! (more details below).

Enough blabbering for now, let me brag on how amazing everything really is!

Accommodations – Modern comfort meets timeless European luxury! The Broadmoor has a vast array of guest rooms throughout the hotel, our superior room did not disappoint! They offer anything from a “regular” room, although I wouldn’t call these rooms regular to the cutest little cottages and they have an Estate House option.

Dining and Nightlife – For anyone planning a trip to the Broadmoor, you’ll definitely want to check out the list of restaurants here. Speaking from experience, I’d advise making reservations at least a week in advance to ensure you can enjoy dinner at the time and place you’d wish (even if it’s only 2 of you). We enjoyed both lunch and dinner at the Golf Club Grille and Dining Room and both experiences were up to par (pun intended). The lunch menu offers a fairly wide variety of reasonably priced options and a patio with great views and impeccable weather. Definitely drink worthy! We actually had lunch at the clubhouse two different times, so that should be a good sign of our approval. Holding true to form, the hubs insisted we indulge in BEEF when we went back for dinner. The USDA Prime filet followed by delish brownie bites topped with ice cream were the perfect fix! The entire meal was EXCELLENT, especially paired with a fantastic bottle of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon (my newest fav). The other notable dinner was at the prestige, Forbes 5 Star Penrose Room . The atmosphere and ballroom type feel were what made this experience unique. The restaurant sits atop of the South building with incredible skyline and mountain views that really set the tone for a romantic evening. The night is filled with live classical style music and truly exceptional and timely service. It’s impressive how well the staff knows the menu and the advice they can offer regarding the various choices. They offer several dining options starting with a 3 course menu all the way up to a Chef selection. The must try appetizer in our opinion was the tiger shrimp! For our main course, I enjoyed the sea bass and the hubs had their speciality pork loin. The atmosphere, service, food, and wine made the Penrose Room a rememberable date night!

Golf – (Coming from the Hubs) For all the golf enthusiast out there this is a must do if you’re visiting The Broadmoor. These are far from your average green fees, but definitely worth the splurge to take advantage of the experience and challenge. Not to mention, any round of golf without dealing with the Texas humidity is a good one in my book! The Broadmoor has three courses to offer…the East, the West, and the Mountain course. I played the West course so most of my comments will be based on that. Generally speaking, the course plays fairly tight off the tee and most all the fairways are tree-lined with plenty of doglegs. The greens are pretty big, very fast, and well protected by plenty of bunkers. They say everything rolls away from Pike’s Peak and from my experience that’s certainly the case, EVEN when it looks like it’s going to roll the other way! Another word of advice, the elevation and thin air really make the ball fly, so you’ll want to factor that into your club selection. All in all, if you enjoy golf the challenge, sites, and unbeatable weather make this a round worth playing and a memory worth making.
Spa – First, welcome to a Forbes Five Star Spa do I need to say more? For much needed relaxation, rejuvenation, balance do yourself a favor a book a treatment while visiting! I know the 80 minute swedish massage and facial treatment had me feeling like a queen B!

Adventures – As most of you are aware, Colorado has tons of adventures you can discover. As our adventure we chose Seven Falls. Here you can take the 224 steps by the side of the falls that lead to hiking trails and the banks of the glistening stream that feeds the falls. Want more? Seven Falls features two beautiful hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty. These trails give you a chance to immerse yourself in Colorado’s mountain landscape and enjoy its unparalleled scenery and wildlife.

If you are like us, you will be starving after all this hiking. Be sure to dine at Restaurant 1858! Serving authentic Colorado cuisine in a rustic setting is sure to be a great experience!

Thanks so much to The Broadmoor for a great vacation, we can’t wait to go back! I’d love to hear your favorite location to getaway, please share!
Have a good Monday friends!
