Trending: Long Vests

A wise woman once said, “When styling an outfit, always add a third piece.” It’s the easiest way to add dimension to a look and instantly elevates your outfit to style star status. While jackets, hats, and scarves are all fun options, perhaps the best third piece of all is the long vest – AND I’m loving them for fall and winter!

They are a great way to incorporate layers while still looking chic. Long vests elongate your body if you style them just right. Here are a few tips on how to style them.

1. Balance your lengths – If you are wearing long vest, make sure the top underneath it is shorter, hitting around your natural waist. The top I have on is pretty long, so I tucked it in a bit in the front to balance out the proportions.

2. Go for a neutral – With so much fabric, long vests can come across as dramatic. But make it work for an everyday look by going with a more neutral color (black, grey or camel), kinda like this beautiful one. I’m also loving this option (definitely thicker for the colder months). Oh, and how fun and cute is this one?!?!

3. Add some height – You don’t want to look like you are drowning in the vest, so elongate your legs and offset the longer length by adding some booties or pumps. This way it will look like you are wearing the vest rather than the vest is wearing you. 🙂
