Whose ready for the weekend? I’m on day 5 of running 2.5+ miles and my legs need a break to say the least! You see, I’ve never considered myself a “runner” that is until last year when I set a running goal of 400 miles. As some of you may know 2017 was a year of change. With change comes some stress. I even had a mild injury that set me back three months but I still managed to run 450 miles in 2017! I literally completed my last two miles two weeks ago and boy did it feel good!
So when I sat down to make my 2018 goals I knew that I wanted to keep going! Keep pushing! Keep running more! The goal I set is 500+ total miles for the entire year. It’s something like 10 miles a week or 1.5 miles a day. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? I try to give myself the weekends off, but sometimes life happens! And very similar to life some days are much easier than others 🙂
For those of you that think I’m crazy, here are a few benefits of running!
1. Inexpensive Exercise
Not everyone has the extra cash to join a gym. Those monthly membership fees can really be a drain on your finances. Luckily, all you need for running is a pair of trusty sneakers and the open road—it’s one of the most inexpensive forms of exercise around.
2. Running is Social
Talk about a great way to get a workout and catch up with your buddies at the same time—running is the perfect social exercise. And if you’re lacking running friends, chances are there’s a local running group taking new members in your area.
3. Run to De-Stress
Hard day at work? Running 3 to 4 times per week not only burns off calories, but anxiety and stress too! All while also flushing the body, skin, and pores of harmful toxins—the bad stuff that causes acne and other blemishes.
4. Run Anytime, Anywhere
Talk about an exercise that you can do anytime, anywhere the mood strikes (HA!). Running is probably one of the most convenient activities available. I can run outside (weather permitting), on vacation (hello, beach!), and even indoors (given you have a treadmill) at any hour of the day.
5. Of Course, it Calls for the Cutest Workout Gear
Because you have to look good running the streets with your friends, right? On a serious note I firmly believe if you feel confident about the way you look in the clothes, you will work out harder and feel more motivated! Of course functionality and versatility is also important, so when you can find cute workout clothes that are also supportive, functional and verstile, you’ve hit the jackpot! So today, I’m headed out to run 2 or so miles, meet the hubs for lunch and take a quick road trip to pick up my nephew and niece for the weekend! Needless to say, I managed to get all my running in this week because this weekend calls for movies and playtime! I hope you have the best weekend!
