Hi friends and happy Friday! I think it’s safe to say things have finally slowwwwed down around here. I’ve missed you guys. I’ve missed blogging. And most of all I’ve missed reading your kind comments. Since leaving The Woodlands and closing on our new house (more details here) life has been just a bit hectic! In the midst of chaos of moving, Hurricane Harvey (click here to help our great state) hit the coast of Texas which thank you Jesus did not affect us but delayed our move. Today marks two weeks of owning this home and I’m happy to say all our belongings have been delivered and all the boxes are unpacked and most everything has a new home here. The walls are still bare… but I do have plans for them… eventually! I promise a new home tour in late September!
In honor of date night tonight, I wanted to round up our favorite dinner date night spots! The hubs and I try to set aside one night a week to enjoy dinner out someplace where the cooking and dishes are on someone else and we are able to relax, unplug and catch up! Every once in awhile (like tonight) we will order in and wine down in the comfort of our own home. I suggested this idea tonight so we could enjoy dinner on the patio in this fall like Texas weather! We are definitely foodies and winos at heart so putting this post together wasn’t the easiest! Below, I’ve listed our favorite restaurants and what we usually order! High five if you can make it to the bottom of the post without your stomach growling!!!
Del Friscos Grille (Dallas //Houston) – Hands down our go to place! The food, drinks, and atmosphere can’t be beat! When we lived in The Woodlands, you could find us here at least once a month (often more)! My favorite part, if you want fancy food they have it. And if you want a good burger and great service, they have that too! Del Friscos also has brunch, which is another favorite!
Appetizer – Cheesesteak Eggrolls
B’s Picks – Steakhouse Salad or Hatch Green Chili Cheeseburger
The Hubs Picks – Mesquite Smoked Pork Chop or Prime Beef Short Rib Stroganoff
Dessert – Nutella Bread Pudding (SOO good!!!)
North Italia (Austin // Dallas // Houston) – Here everything is handmade from scratch daily! From the decor, ambiance and food, you can’t go wrong. We have dined at the Austin and Houston location, and both have exceeded our expectations. Bring an empty stomach or be ready to indulge in leftovers! Reservations are suggested.
Appetizer – Grilled Artichoke and White Truffle Garlic Bread
B’s Pick – Simple Salad and Strozzapreti
The Hubs Pick – Bolognese or Short Rib Radiatori
Dessert – We are usually too full to think about it!
Pappasito’s (Austin // Dallas// Houston) – Because it’s Tex-Mex and I’ve never met a queso I didn’t like! Known for their fajitas and margaritas but really nothing will disappoint! I do suggest starting with a refreshing margarita and some of the best queso I’ve ever had! After one visit, your taste buds will thank you!
Appetizer – Chile con Queso or Table-Side Guacamole
Our Pick – Pappasito’s Grill (this is perfect for us to split)
Drinks – A Top Shelf Margarita is the way to go
Steak 48 (Houston) – Save this one for a special occasion because it won’t disappoint. The hubs took me here for a surprise dinner on our third anniversary and it instantly hit my favorites list. Our waiter was outstanding and certainly made the experience all that we could’ve hoped for, he even gave us a tour of the kitchen which was really cool! We wanted to try as many things as possible, so split several things to keep from filling up too fast.
Appetizer – Braised Pork Belly
Salad – Steak Knife BLT Wedge
Main Course – 12 oz Prime Filet Mignon
Side – Corn Creme Brûlée
Dessert – Red Velvet Bread Pudding
Uchi (Austin // Dallas// Houston) – While I love sushi, oddly enough I’m typically not a fan of sushi restaurants themselves. Ordinarily, I’d rather get take out or order in, but Uchi isn’t your average run of mill sushi restaurant. It’s trendy, bright, and vibrant setting gives off update vibes and the various menu options make this a new adventure each time you come in. And most importantly the sushi is always fresh! I’m not going to share all of our favs because we have many and everyone’s tastes are different when it comes to sushi, but rest assured you really can’t go wrong.
Start planning your next date night, I can’t wait to hear your top spots and go to menu options. We’re always up for trying something new and different, so please share some of your favs. Have a great weekend friends!
