Hi Friends and happy Wednesday!
I’m so happy to be back this week after taking the week off! Better yet, it’s sunny and not a cloud in sight here :). Helloooo SPRING! I didn’t completely take last week off. I was busy gathering and shooting some fun new spring looks to share with all of you in the near future! Be sure to stay tuned for more!
The other day I came across a survey with random questions asking you to circle one answer: Are you a early riser or night owl? Me? Early riser! I’m the kind that once my feet hit the floor and I’ve had one cup of coffee, I’m all in! There’s something about it being noon and my “to do” list being completed that makes me feel accomplished! Sidenote: There are many mornings, snooze gets the best of me, okay is 27 minutes of snoozing that bad?!? But once I’m up, bring it!
Today, I wanted to encourage all of you to try and be a morning person for 1 week, maybe 5 days? Just Monday through Friday! Read along below on how YOU can become a morning person and conquer the day! Here are some of my favorite tips I remind myself of when I want to sleep in or push snooze just one more time!
1. Get Up an Hour Early
There is a 25th hour in the day. You’ve just been sleeping through it. Getting up an hour earlier is going to take time to adjust to, but once you make it a habit, you will never look back. Not only are early risers more optimistic and conscientious, they also anticipate problems and minimize them more efficiently. Friends, I’m still working on this one. But the few times I have managed to do this, it’s been glorious!
Early hours foster reflection. Enjoy the quiet time with a cup of coffee and take some time to map out your day. Think through your goals and to-dos. Take whatever notes you need to ensure your day will be calmer and more efficient. It’s been said that even two minutes of visualization and positive thinking can improve your mood and clarity for the entire day ahead. My quiet time consists of time in Jesus’ word, reflection and prayer!
3. Eat Breakfast:
Time is a luxury, enjoy it and feed yourself a wholesome breakfast. Sit down with your family and enjoy a hearty bowl of oatmeal. Fuel your body for the tasks that lay ahead of you. It will help you maintain a steady focus throughout the day.
4. Say Byeeee to THAT one BIG Task:
Reprioritize your to-do list, placing the MOST dreaded task at the top of your list. Instead of letting it loom over you all day save yourself the agony and stress and get it done first thing. You will feel a sense of relief and be more ready and willing to tackle any trivial task that follows. Besides, the morning is the time when you typically have the most energy and feel the most rested. I started doing this a month or so ago and it’s a win-win, trust me!
5. Get Moving:
Morning workouts not only give you a boost of energy, they pump you up, ensuring your senses are up and running. You’ll feel ready to tackle any problem that comes your way. I’ve been doing early morning workouts M-W-F. Again, the getting out of bed part is never easy for me BUT y’all I love the feeling when my workout is complete by 6:30! If you can’t fit it in your schedule everyday, try just a couple times a week.
I know some of you can relate to these tips! And I hope the rest of you will try them soon. As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic week and enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve been blessed with this week. Check back Friday for some of my current favorite things!
